The Roman Museum - an alternative approach to the school play

Age Phase: Primary
Teaching About and Through Drama and Theatre CPD Unit: Level 2

Aims:
  • to provide the opportunity to examine an alternative to the published script as a means by which to create the primary school play
  • to examine a range of examples that use a cross-curricular drama project to generate a performance
  • to identify key elements of organisation and practice needed to facilitate this approach
  • to develop a broader understanding of dramatic conventions that might be used in both the process and performance aspects of such a project
CPD Themes in this unit:

Teaching about and through drama and theatre, drama leadership, drama as a cross-curricular pedagogy, primary performance

Time requirement:

10 hours reading/viewing,  20 hours planning and reflection
